Information for GPs

Supporting your patients through specialist referral

While many musculoskeletal conditions can be diagnosed and managed well in primary and community settings, care can be accompanied by long waiting times and significant demand on services.

We offer specialist, multidisciplinary orthopaedic care to patients with a variety of congenital and acquired conditions, and are typically able to provide surgical treatment much more quickly that would be possible for public health providers.

We value our relationship with general practitioners and aim to provide a smooth referral process for both you and your patients. We understand that, when you take the decision to refer your patients for specialised care, trust, communication and information, are key. This is why we work hard to ensure that you have all the resources and information that you need to feel confident in your referral, and to ensure that the process is easy and efficient.

Why refer?

Experience: Professor Munjed Al Muderis has over 20 years’ experience in orthopaedic medicine, specialising in osseointegration, joint replacement and complex limb reconstruction, as well as associated therapies, including TMR and RPNI.

Collaboration: We work closely with GPs to ensure continuity of care for patients, and provide regular updates to referrers on patient progress.

Evidence-based care: We use the latest research and technologies to deliver the best possible outcomes.

Other Healthcare Professionals (HCP)

If you are a HCP and would like to submit a referral, please send a referral enquiry to business@almuderis.com.au or fax 02 8882 9680.

Once a referral enquiry has been received and reviewed, a member of our referrals team will be in touch to inform you of the outcome.

Enquiries

Please contact us to discuss referrals if:

  • You are a GP and wish to ask any questions about a referral
  • You are unsure about the services we are able to offer and whether we can support your patient
  • You would like general information about a specific surgical procedure or rehabilitation protocol.
  • Your patient is experiencing escalating pain and progressively worsening symptoms that do not respond to conservative management or medication as expected.

We accept patients domestically, from within Australia, and from international providers. We aim to maintain a very broad inclusion policy, but if there are elements of your patient’s medical history which you feel are important, please ensure that you inform us.

We will aim to respond to your query within 5 working days and may request further information from you regarding your patient, including diagnostic results, clinical photos, scanned images or previous correspondence.

Please note that, just because a referral has been submitted does not mean that it has been accepted, so it is important to manage your patient’s expectations before you have confirmation from us.
